ELC teachers attend Nurturing workshop

Continuing Professional Development

Teachers from the English Language Centre (ELC) recently attended a continuing professional development workshop on Nurturing Oneself and Students. The objective was to empower teachers to take charge of their own personal and professional growth. The workshop was facilitated by Alena Murang of Art4, a management consultant on educational projects.

During the workshop, teachers did a session on teacher beliefs and visioning. They got into groups to discuss their own favourite teacher, their ideal classroom and dreams for their students. They also thought about what 'education means'. They were also asked to share ideas as to how their goals could be accomplished through the use of mindful action planning.

The workshop concluded with teachers writing a pledge to nurture themselves in order to be able to nurture their students and to share ways in achieving those goals.

Since 1987, ELC has been dedicated to creating a nurturing and caring environment for the teaching and learning of English in our community.

ELC is having an Open Day on 22 August 2016 for 2017 enrollment. For more information, please call 082 250 950 or visit www.englishkuching.com
