My grandparents

My grandfather is already in his seventies.  His face is etched with wrinkles and he's almost bald.  My father once told me that his side of the family loses hair easily.  Grandpa may look strict but when he smiles, you can tell that he's a friendly old man.  He has a really loud voice, especially when he laughs.

Grandpa's mother, who is my great grandmother, passed away two years ago, when she was 97 years old.  My family and I would visit her sometimes before she passed away.  She mostly lay in bed since she could not move much.  Besides that, she could barely even talk.  She always wore a jade ring around her finger.

I heard from my father that my great grandparents were from China.  They came to Malaysia because it was easier to find a job here.

Grandpa has a really good sense of humor.  He likes telling jokes and making us laugh.  Nothing makes him happier than seeing our smiles and hearing our laughter.

My grandparents now live in Chicago, USA.  They have been living there for years.  My uncle, their youngest son, lives there with them. They usually come back home to visit especially during Chinese New Year which is in February.

They often call us to ask how we are.  They never miss calling us on special days like our birthdays, Fathers' day and festive occasions like New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year.

Both my grandparents are really caring people.  They really care about us, especially my grandmother.  She'd make sure we eat a healthy meal and she hates it when we waste our food.  Grandpa doesn't like it when we lack discipline.  He'll scold us if we misbehave.  And of course like my parents, they care about how we're doing at school.  Grandma loves it when she sees us reading.  She wants us to gain knowledge by reading.  That's why she wouldn't mind spending money on books, and she encourages us to read more.

I really love my grandparents.  I have to be honest, and say I don't know much about them, but I still love them. They live really far away, and one day, I hope I can visit them in the USA.
